PROVIDENCE, December 2, 1878.

Hon. Joshua M. Addeman, Secretary of State:

The Twenty-Fifth Annual Report upon the Registration of Births, Marriages, and Deaths in Rhode Island, is herewith submitted. The statistics are for the year ending December 31, 1877.

During the year 1877, there were 6,235 Births, 2,282 Marriages, and 4,450 Deaths reported in the State. The number of births reported in 1877, was 94 less; the number of marriages was 29 more; and the number of deaths was 334 more than in 1876. The proportion of births, persons married, and deaths in Rhode Island, in 1877, to the population, was as follows: One birth in 41.42, or 24.14 in each 1,000; one person married in 56.58, or 17.67 in each 1,000; and one death in 58.03, or 17.23 in each 1,000. In these calculations the population given is according to the State Census of 1875, which would, of course, differ somewhat from the population in 1877.
