The Economic Impact of the Adirondack Park Private Land Use and Development PlanSUNY Press, 1980 M01 1 - 319 pages The purpose of this book is to assess the nature and degree of impact the Adirondack Park Private Land Use and Development Plan has had upon the economy of the Adirondack Park Region in New York State. This Plan regulates land use on the private areas within the Adirondack Park "blue line," lands that occupy 60% of the geographic space within the Park. The Plan, which has been operative since August 1, 1973, represents one of the most significant pieces of land use legislation enacted in the United States. Data was collected and interpreted on how key groups of local governments perceived the economic impact of the Plan, how realtors and employers perceived it, and the impact on subdivisions. Finally, the net economic impact of the Plan on the Adirondack real estate market and on each of the 90 Adirondack Park towns was concluded with suggestions for remedial action. |
