2. Does he mean to get over the wall and steal the fruit on that pear-tree?

3. If he steals it, I think he will be caught; for I can see the man who owns the garden standing at the gate.

4. Frank is a bad boy. Robbie Winch is a bad boy, too. Frank and he had a fight a few days ago. Do you think they go to school?

5. They do not go to school. That is strange; but why do they not go to school?

6. I can tell you. I fear their parents are much to blame, for they let them go where they please and do what they like. 7. What a good thing it is that you have

thoughtful parents. They keep you at school, and do not let you spend your time in the streets playing with bad boys.

8. They know what is for your good, and. so have to deny you many things that you ask of them.

9. They say, “No, my son, I can not let you do that "—" You will get no good by going there, stay at school."

Sixty minutes make an hour";

If I were a little linnet

Hopping in her leafy bower,

Then I should not have to sing it:

5. So in a few minutes the two girls were running across the lawn to the meadow. 6. "Oh, stop, Annie!" cried Rose; “we must take Nep."

7. “We need not go back for him today, Rose; he shall come next time.”

8. "But, Annie, I promised to take him.” 9. Annie went with Rose to the kennel where Nep was waiting to have his chain taken off. As soon as he was free, he ran before them to the meadow.

1. "Are they not lovely, Annie? the flowers, and the pond, and every thing?"

2. "Yes," said Annie; but she was thinking of her book at home.

3. Rose walked round the pond in the meadow, but going too near the bank she fell into the water.

4. She screamed, and a man who was at work in the meadow came as quickly as he could, but Nep was first to the rescue.

5. The faithful dog plunged into the water, and soon came to the surface holding poor little Rose by her dress. The man carried her home.
