Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

The Government of Nova Scotia may expropriate such part or parts of Bon Portage Island, in the County of Shelburne, as may be deemed necessary for the use of the fishermen of the Province in the prosecution of their employment, and the Governor-inCouncil may make regulations in respect to the use and terms of occupancy of any lands so expropriated.

An Act to Provide for the Superannuation of Amelia

Reid.

(Passed the 31st day of March, A. D., 1911.)

SECTION.-Annuity to Amelia Reid.

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows.

1. The Governor-in-Council is authorized to pay Amelia Reid, Assistant Housekeeper in the Victoria General Hospital, after her retirement from the service of the province in such Hospital, a sum not exceeding two hundred dollars a year during the period of her natural life, payable by equal monthly instalments.

7. Section 45 of Chapter 71 of the Revised Statutes, 1900, is repealed and the following is substituted therefor :

When a majority of the members present at a motion to vote. meeting of a Town Council signify in writing a request that the mayor or the councillor presiding put to vote of the Council any motion not declared by the Town Solicitor to be illegal, the mayor, or in his absence, the councillor presiding shall forthwith put such a motion to a vote of the Council, and if the mayor, or in his absence, the councillor presiding, refuses or neglects to put such motion to a vote of the Council, any member of the Council may put such motion and vote himself thereon, and if a majority of the Council present votes for such motion the same shall be recorded by the town clerk in the minutes of the proceedings of the Town Council, and shall be valid and binding as a resolution of the Council. Under this

section the mayor, or in his absence the councillor presiding, shall not be entitled to a vote.''
